Reception - Lent A Term

 In this week's Zoom Meeting we would love to hear all about the Geography learning the children have been doing at home. We would also love to hear any interesting facts they want to share about the British Isles or Cape Town.

In Maths this week the children will begin a new topic on money. First, they will explore and compare the different values of coins and notes, moving onto making different amounts of money using a variety of different coins and then finding change from £1. As an extra fun home learning task this week the children could have a go at making their own role play shop at home to practice the skills from this week's learning.

If you have any spare change that could be used as an additional resource at home this would be wonderful, or the children could make their own coins using the paper template saved in the resources for this week. Please read the guidance included in this regarding printing reproductions of money at home.

In Geography this week, the children are going to be learning about Wales, the final country in our learning about The British Isles. They will be adding to their map of the British Isles with the physical and human features they have learnt.

In English we are writing an essay based on ‘What life is like in the British Isles’. The children will be looking at the features of an essay and completing a detailed plan to help them write each paragraph. We will write it piece by piece so the children can follow along.

In Science the students will be learning about different types of rocks and how they are formed. Then, they will be creating a fact file about 3 different rock types.  

In PSHE this week the children will think about the difference between essential and non-essential items. They will plan their own camping trip thinking about the things they would need vs the things they might want to take with them.
